vinvolved is the national youth volunteering programme for 16 – 25 year olds. vinvolved’s mission is to:
empower, support and train young people to develop their community through volunteering and youth-led projects

We do this by:

  • providing young people with the skills, knowledge, encouragement, motivation and resources they need to make a difference in their communities
  • actively challenging barriers to volunteering and youth-led action and ensuring all young people can participate to their full potential
  • challenging perceptions and stereotypes of volunteering and promoting its personal and community benefits
  • challenging perceptions and stereotypes of young people
  • ensuring volunteer-involving organisations can support and involve young people safely, inclusively and effectively
  • developing high quality, exciting and creative volunteering opportunities for young people that are closely aligned to their passions, cares and interests
  • recognising, celebrating, recording and accrediting young people’s achievements gained through volunteering and youth-led action

  • working with a wide range of organisations, decision-makers, and people to ensure youth volunteering and youth-led community projects can continue beyond Vinvolved Herts’ funding.

Our Herts vinvolved team launched in April 2008, there are 6 of us altogether, that covers the whole county:

3 Youth Volunteering Development Managers (who seek out new voluntary opportunities for you from local charities & not for profit organisations) For more info please see our organisations page.

3 Youth Volunteering Advisers (who work directly with young people, recruiting, placing and supporting when necessary) Please use our interactive map to contact your local adviser and visit your local page.

Whatever kind of volunteering you get involved in, you can gain official recognition for your work through our award scheme:

v Thank You Award: If you do up to 8 hours of volunteering on a one off project or event then you can receive one of our Thank You certificates.

v50 Award (50 hours volunteer work): If you would like to volunteer regularly about 1 – 2 hours a week, and log your hours, you could receive one of our v50 certificates.
